2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Follows Lukewarm Feedback

The new appointee assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last autumn.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a distinct direction.

The president noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to address player expectations.

Here is the full content from the president's communication:

Hello Everyone—

I know you all just wrapped up your gathering - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Last time I sent you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most driven and creative developers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re eager for that partnership to persist.”

With your dedication and flexibility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It confirmed the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It revealed the necessity for a more distinct brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to deliver on its promise to our audience.

The trust in this project increases every day. To further the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome Ben Brinkman as the latest Lead of the team. After several months of discussions, Ben officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.

I invite you all in welcoming Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the evolution of the game in the months to come.

The President

"Take on the rivals with new abilities, risks, and obstacles that shift every round. Will you safely extract with your valuable rewards? Alternatively take a risk, risk it all, and hope your group can earn top ranking? The choice is up to you."

Project Ethos lacks an announced launch window or consoles, but enthusiasts can expect further news as development continues.
